Heating that keeps up with a growing family home
Woodseats runs along Chesterfield Road heading south out of Sheffield, with Norton Lees, Meersbrook, Beauchief and Abbeydale all close by. A great deal of the housing here dates from the inter-war and early post-war decades — bay-fronted semis and short terraces, plus later detached homes and some purpose-built flats closer to the main road.
Housing of that era tends to share a broadly similar layout, which is genuinely useful when planning work: three bedrooms, a bathroom over the hall or to the rear, and a heating system that was retro-fitted rather than designed in. The radiators are often the originals from whenever central heating first went in, sized for how the house was used decades ago rather than how it is used now.
So most of our Woodseats work falls into two groups. Replacing a boiler that has reached the end of its life, and extending or rebalancing a system that no longer matches the house — a rear extension, a converted loft bedroom, a knocked-through kitchen-diner. Adding rooms to an existing system is not just a case of teeing off the nearest pipe, and we will size it properly first. Every gas job is carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
