Boiler Repair in Sheffield
No heating, no hot water, a leak or a fault code on the display? Heat365’s Gas Safe registered engineers diagnose and repair boiler faults across Sheffield and South Yorkshire — we tell you what is wrong and what it will cost before we touch anything, and we will tell you honestly if the boiler is not worth repairing.
What a boiler repair callout involves
A boiler repair starts with a diagnosis, not a guess. When our engineer arrives they will ask what the boiler has been doing, read any fault code on the display, check system pressure, and test the parts that the symptom points at — the diverter valve, the pump, the expansion vessel, the PCB, the fan or the pressure sensor, depending on what the boiler is telling us.
Only then do we tell you what is wrong. You get a plain-English explanation, a price for the repair, and a straight answer on whether it is worth doing. Nothing gets fixed until you have said yes. Where the part is a common one we carry, most faults are resolved on the same visit; where it has to be ordered in, we will tell you that on the day rather than after.

Common boiler faults we repair in Sheffield
If your boiler is doing any of these, it is a repair job rather than a service. Call us and describe the symptom — it usually tells us a lot before we arrive.
- No heating at all, but hot water still works
- No hot water, or hot water that runs cold
- Boiler losing pressure and needing repeated topping up
- Water leaking from the boiler or its pipework
- Pilot light that will not stay lit
- A fault or error code showing on the display
- Banging, gurgling or kettling noises
- Radiators cold at the top, or cold at the bottom
- Boiler locking out and needing a reset every day
- Frozen condensate pipe in cold weather
- Thermostat or controls not talking to the boiler
- Boiler firing up then cutting out (short cycling)
Some of these have a safe DIY check worth trying first — our guide to common boiler problems walks through them. If you can smell gas, do not troubleshoot: turn the gas off at the meter, open the windows and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999.
Repairs, emergencies and what comes next
Most jobs fall into one of three categories. Whichever yours is, the price is confirmed before we start.

Diagnose & Repair
We find the actual fault, quote it, and fix it — often on the same visit.
- Common boiler problems
- Pilot light keeps going out
- Boiler leaking rusty water

Emergency Breakdowns
No heat, no hot water or a leak you cannot stop? Our emergency line runs 24 hours a day.

Repair or Replace
If the repair does not stack up, we will say so — and quote the alternative honestly.
Every gas repair is carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer
By law, work on gas appliances in the UK must be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer — the requirement runs through the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998, and the HSE sets out what that means for households and landlords in its domestic gas safety guidance. It is not a formality: badly done gas work is dangerous, and an unregistered repair can invalidate your boiler warranty and your home insurance.

How quickly we attend a breakdown
Call or WhatsApp
Tell us the make of boiler, the symptom and any fault code on the display. That is usually enough for us to know what to bring.
We book you in
Lost heating or hot water, or a leak you cannot stop, is treated as urgent and goes to the front of the queue — our line runs 24/7. Anything less urgent gets a planned slot, usually the same week.
Diagnose, quote, fix
We find the fault, explain it, price it and repair it once you have agreed. Common parts are carried on the van, so most jobs finish on the first visit.
Is your boiler worth repairing, or is it time to replace it?
This is the question most people are really asking, and pushing everyone towards a new boiler would be the easy answer. It is not ours. A well-installed boiler that has been serviced regularly is usually worth repairing, and a single failed part on a boiler still under manufacturer warranty is very often not something you should pay to replace at all.
Repair usually makes sense when the boiler is relatively young, has a service history, the failed part is a discrete component rather than the heat exchanger, and this is the first significant fault. Replacement starts to make more sense when the boiler is well past its warranty, parts are getting hard to source, you have already paid for two or three repairs in a short space of time, or the fault is in a major component whose cost is a large share of what a new boiler would cost fitted.
We will give you our honest view on the day and a price for both routes where replacement is genuinely on the table. We do not charge for the opinion, and we do not sell boilers to people who do not need one. Our guide to boiler repair versus replacement sets out the same thinking in more detail, and if a new boiler is the right call we handle boiler installation across Sheffield.
On price: repair costs depend entirely on which part has failed and how long the job takes, so we do not publish a single figure — we confirm the price with you before any work starts. For a realistic sense of what boiler work costs locally, our Sheffield boiler cost guide is a good starting point. Any figures there are guide figures, not a quote.

My boiler has stopped working — what should I check before calling?
Three quick checks are worth doing. Is the boiler still getting power and is the thermostat calling for heat? Is the pressure gauge sitting in the normal band (typically around 1 to 1.5 bar when the system is cold)? And in cold weather, is the condensate pipe outside frozen? Our guide to common boiler problems covers each of these. If you can smell gas, stop, turn the gas off at the meter, open windows and call 0800 111 999.
Do you repair all makes of boiler?
Yes. Our Gas Safe registered engineers repair all the major brands — Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Ideal, Baxi, Glow-worm, Viessmann, Potterton, Alpha, Ferroli and others — across combi, system and regular boilers.
How much does a boiler repair cost?
It depends which part has failed, so we do not publish a flat figure that would be misleading. What we do is diagnose the fault first and give you a price before any repair work begins, so you can decide with the number in front of you. Our Sheffield boiler cost guide gives useful context, but it is a guide rather than a quote.
Can you come out today?
Often, yes. A total loss of heating or hot water, or a leak, is treated as an emergency and our line is answered 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Call as early as you can — it gives us the best chance of getting to you the same day.
Will a repair invalidate my boiler warranty?
Not when the work is done properly by a Gas Safe registered engineer and the boiler has been serviced as the manufacturer requires. It is unregistered or undocumented work that puts a warranty at risk. If your boiler is still in warranty, tell us when you call — in some cases the right move is a manufacturer claim rather than a paid repair, and we will say so.
My boiler keeps losing pressure. Is that a repair or a service?
A boiler that needs topping up repeatedly has a fault, so it is a repair. The usual causes are a leak somewhere on the system, a failed pressure relief valve or an expansion vessel that has lost its charge. Topping it up treats the symptom; finding the cause is the actual fix.
Should I just book a service instead?
If the boiler is working and you are due your annual check, book a boiler service in Sheffield — that is preventative work and includes a full flue-gas analysis and written record. If the boiler has actually stopped working, misfiring or leaking, you need a repair visit. Call us and describe it, and we will tell you which one you need.
Tell us what your boiler is doing
Prefer not to call? Send us the make, the symptom and any fault code, and we’ll come straight back to you with availability — usually the same working day.
