Boiler replacement & repair
Replacing ageing combi boilers, breakdown repairs and annual servicing.
Heat365 are Gas Safe registered plumbers and heating engineers covering Brimington and the S43 area. Most of the village is twentieth-century semis and bungalows, which means the boiler being replaced here is usually a first-generation combi rather than a back boiler. Call us 24/7.
Brimington sits about two miles north-east of Chesterfield, close to the Chesterfield Canal and the line of the old North Midland railway. The A619 that runs through the middle of the village on its way to Worksop is a former turnpike road, and the village grew along it. Nineteenth-century accounts already described Brimington as modern and well built, and it has kept growing since — housing development on the edges of the village prompted archaeological trial trenching in 2019 and a fuller excavation in 2022 ahead of building.
The upshot is a housing stock that is mostly twentieth-century rather than Victorian: inter-war and post-war semis, a good number of bungalows, and newer estate housing around the edges. That changes the typical job. There are far fewer back boilers here than in the older Chesterfield suburbs. What we replace instead is the first or second generation of combi boilers — units fitted in the 1990s and 2000s that are now well past their useful life, sitting on pipework and radiators that were never upgraded with them.
The questions that come with that are consistent. Will the existing pipework and radiators take a modern boiler, or do they need work first? Is the system clean enough, or will the new boiler clog within a year? Bungalows bring their own quirk, with more pipework running through a cold loft and correspondingly more freezing and bursts in a bad winter. We work through all of it, and every gas job is carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer.

Sometimes, but it should be checked rather than assumed. Modern condensing boilers are less tolerant of a dirty system than the units they replace, and the condensate needs a route that older installations did not have to allow for. We check the pipework, the gas supply, the radiators and the condition of the system water before quoting, and tell you if anything needs doing first.
Not always — it depends on how dirty the system actually is, and we would rather test than sell you one on principle. Where a system is heavily sludged, fitting a new boiler without cleaning it risks blockages and early failure. Where it is reasonably clean, a chemical clean and a magnetic filter may be enough. We'll tell you which situation you are in.
Either way, we would always fit a magnetic filter on a system that does not already have one. It is a small addition that catches the debris a heating system inevitably generates, and it does more to protect a new boiler over the long run than almost anything else.
Kettling usually means scale or sludge build-up in the heat exchanger, so water is overheating in patches rather than flowing freely. Banging can also come from air, or from pipework expanding against a joist or clip. They have different fixes, so it is worth having it looked at before it becomes a breakdown.
Usually improved a great deal, yes. Bungalows and dormers have more pipework running through a cold loft than a two-storey house does, and loft insulation laid over the pipes leaves them colder still. Lagging the runs properly, and in some cases re-routing them below the insulation, makes a real difference.
