Heating that keeps up with homes that have grown
Armthorpe is a large village on the eastern edge of Doncaster, with farmland still running out towards the M18. It is recorded in the Domesday Book, but it was coal that shaped the village you see today: Markham Main Colliery was sunk in 1916 and whole new housing estates were built for its workers, laid out in distinctive rings and crescents that are still clear from the air. After the pit closed in 1996, the old colliery site became a large housing estate of its own.
Two kinds of heating job stand out here. Where an established home has been extended — a kitchen or sun room at the back, a loft conversion, an extra bathroom — the heating has not always kept up: a boiler now working flat out, radiators simply added to the end of the system, an upstairs that never gets properly warm. And on the more exposed edges of the village, the external condensate pipe from a modern condensing boiler can freeze in a hard frost, locking the boiler out on exactly the morning you need it.
We fix the immediate fault and the cause behind it, so the same problem is not back next winter or the next time the family grows. Every gas job is carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer, and we explain what we have found before we start.
