Can you work in a flat where the water has to be isolated at a communal riser?
Yes. In most apartment blocks the isolation point for your flat is inside your own cupboard, but where the job needs the riser shutting down we will tell you that up front so it can be arranged with the building manager or managing agent. We are happy to speak to them directly and book a slot that suits the building.
Water is coming through my ceiling from the flat above — what happens next?
The first job is stopping it, and that usually means getting access to the flat above rather than working from below. We can trace where the water is actually coming from — it is often a bathroom or a pipe run rather than the room directly overhead. If you cannot get access, contact your building management while we make your own flat safe.
Do you fit boilers in apartments with no loft and limited flue options?
We do, but we survey it properly first. In flats the deciding factors are usually where the flue can safely terminate, what the building or lease allows, and whether the existing cupboard can take the replacement. We will tell you honestly if a like-for-like swap is not possible and what the realistic alternatives are.
My flat has electric heating and hot water rather than gas — can you help?
Yes. A lot of city centre flats and conversions run on electric heating with an immersion or unvented cylinder rather than a gas boiler, and we work on those too. If the fault turns out to be electrical rather than plumbing, we will say so rather than charging you to guess at it.
